Academic Achievments of our School

BHS achieved excellent results in the year 2024 with a pass rate of 89,7%. We wish our class of 2024 a bright future ahead.

Provincial & National Sports Achievements

We have in the years produced learners who participated in different sporting codes at Provincial and National Level. We have Educators who dedicate time to train and provide proper coaching and support to our learners. Our learners represent us with pride.

We are Proud of Our Colours

We have the Best looking uniform in town. Our School Colours are Green, Red, White, Grey and Black. We make sure that in all our Sporting uniforms, our school colours are well represented, so that even when we play outside of town we still stand out as Hoerskool Barberton and we remain Unique and Proud of our colours

About Our School

As far as history confirms, Barberton was a government school as far back as 1898, situated in the “Market Square” in Barberton. a Proper school building was built in 1903 where a primary school and high school was situated. Education was only done in English in those years. From 1920 Afrikaans was introduced as a teaching medium.

In 1954 the two schools were split and Hoërskool Barberton was founded in 1955. There were 222 learners, 168 Afrikaans and 54 English. 12 Teachers and Mr J C K Heysteck the first principal, were appointed.

The School Motto was “Vivimus” – “Ons leef”.

The BHS Hostel was built in 1940 which accommodated 74 learners.

Hoërskool Barberton is committed to give quality education founded on Christian norms and values. Furthermore, Hoërskool Barberton endeavours by all means to provide this quality education: through organization; effective class teaching; development of skills; to ensure participation of all stakeholders, and to encourage maximum utilization of available facilities. This is our mission to ensure the holistic development of our students into productive and visionary adults.
