About Our School
In 1954 the two schools were split and Hoërskool Barberton was founded in 1955. There were 222 learners, 168 Afrikaans and 54 English. 12 Teachers and Mr J C K Heysteck the first principal, were appointed.
The School Motto was “Vivimus” – “Ons leef”.
The BHS Hostek was built in 1940 which accomodated 74 learners.

The mission if Hoërskool Barberton is to develop the learners of Hoërskool Barberton into well rounded, balanced, disciplined, responsible young adults.
Hoërskool Barberton is committed to give quality education founded on Christian norms and values. Furthermore, Hoërskool Barberton endeavours by all means to provide this quality education: through organization; effective class teaching; development of skills; to ensure participation of all stakeholders, and to encourage maximum utilization of available facilities. This is our mission to ensure the holistic development of our students into productive and visionary adults.
